We make it easy for you to provide a great benefit for your employees. Your employees save federal, state and FICA taxes while you save matching FICA on every dollar deducted pre-tax. Discovery Benefits handles all aspects of the administrative process. We provide online access to WiredCommute so participants can purchase their passes and pay for those passes directly from their transit or parking account.

Flexibility

Discovery’s platform allows an employer to offer Transportation benefit plans along with its FSA, HRA and HSA using one integrated source. Employees call one customer service number and login into one site for their transportation and other reimbursement account information. A single debit card is available for use with multiple plans.

Simplified Compliance

Discovery’s platform monitors the Monthly Maximums to ensure employees do not exceed the statutory limits.

Discovery provides single sign-on access to WiredCommute, an online service for purchasing transit and parking passes nationwide to ensure compliance with the IRS Readily Available Rule.

Discovery provides employers with a Summary Plan Description at inception and when there is a benefit design or regulation change.

WiredCommute Access

WiredCommute is a compliant, cutting-edge, comprehensive program for Section 132(f) transportation benefits. A single sign-on via Discovery’s login provides participants access to WiredCommute’s national network that includes more than 500 transit authorities and more than 9,000 parking locations.

Here’s how it works: Eligible employees enroll in the transit and/or parking accounts (employees are eligible to enroll in the transit and/or parking accounts or change their election on a monthly basis). Once their transit and/or parking accounts are set up and initialized, eligible employees may place their orders on WiredCommute by the 10th of each month. Orders are electronically transmitted to Discovery. Once received, funds are withdrawn from the employer’s account and credited to employees’ transit and/or parking accounts. Payments are deducted directly from the participant’s transit and/or parking account and sent to WiredCommute. All transit and/or parking pass orders are sent by first class mail directly to employees’ homes prior to the first day of each month.

Benefits Debit Card

Our Benefits Debit Card is available to purchase parking passes or transit passes. If the Benefits Debit Card is offered for parking and/or transit, WiredCommute is not available due to the potential for duplicate payment.

Beginning January 1, 2009, the Benefits Debit Card will not be available to purchase transit passes per IRS regulations.

Internet Inquiry and Enrollment

Employees can check their real time transit and/or parking account status via the internet 24/7. Through their login, they can access their WiredCommute account to order passes, update address information, set recurring transaction requests, etc.

Employee and Employer Education

Discovery Benefits is available to conduct group meetings and provides a Transportation Resource Guide as a simple reference for how the plan works.

Direct Deposit

Employees who submit their parking expenses via fax or mail may set up direct deposit by completing the Direct Deposit Form. Reimbursement is automatically sent to their checking or savings account. All claims are processed within a maximum two business days. Direct cash reimbursement is not available for transit passes in accordance with IRS regulations.
