What are the Plan Limits for Transportation and Parking?

The monthly limits on the amount that may be deducted from an employee's income pre-tax are:

$230 for qualified parking expenses

$230* for transit passes and vanpooling expenses combined

*Effective March 1, 2009, the Stimulus Bill allows an employer to increase the monthly limit for transit passes or van pooling from $120 to $230 per month for qualified expenses. The new higher limit expires December 31, 2010.

The limits remain the same for 2010.
